Software Engineer - PHP


Gamesville.com, a Boston-area developer of casual and social games, is looking for a PHP Software developer to develop and maintain the Gamesville.com website.

In this role, you will be developing web applications, modifying existing code and writing new code with a focus on user experience, performance, scalability, and maintainability. The ideal candidate will be skilled at developing elegant solutions, and have both business sense and common sense.
Responsibilities:
  • Create new and modify existing web applications, customer service tools, and web-based reports
  • Design and implement database schema and queries
  • Debug, optimize, release, repeat
  • Participate in concept and design phases
Requirements:
  • 2-4 years programming experience PHP development
  • 2-4 years experience working with MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of HTML and Javascript
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment
  • Experience using version control software
  • Ability to quickly prototype and iterate towards production-level quality
  • Experience developing Facebook applications a plus

Senior Software Engineer


Gamesville.com, a Boston-area developer of casual and social games, is looking for a software engineer to develop and maintain our growing multi-player gaming platform.

In this role, the qualified candidate will be responsible for developing code for games and web applications; modifying existing code and writing new code with a focus on gameplay and experience improvements; performance; scalability; and maintainability. The ideal candidate will be skilled at developing elegant designs and solutions, and have both business sense and common sense.
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the design and development of casual multi-player games
  • Design database schema and write SQL queries
  • Build web tools and applications
  • Design client server interactions of multi-player games
  • Port existing Java games to Actionscript 3
  • Write and maintain reports and scripts
  • Debug, optimize, release, repeat
Requirements:
  • 2-4 years programming experience developing games and web applications
  • Knowledge of Perl, C++, PHP, Actionscript 3, Java, SQL, Linux/Unix
  • Ability to quickly learn existing systems and how they work
  • Ability to quickly prototype and iterate towards production-level quality
  • Experience developing in Linux/Unix environment
  • Knowledge of server administration is a plus
  • Must provide examples of work/projects you've developed and explain your role in the process
