What you need to know about Trove
If you loved trading cards with your friends as a kid, then you’re gonna love Trove. It’s essentially a one-stop shop for all things trading cards. You can purchase trading cards and sell them all in one place. Just like my MrLoot review, Trove doesn’t just focus on one category of trading cards. When I took a look, I found:
| Trove trading cards | Sub-categories | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Soccer | Starter, Booster, Reserve, Premier, Epic, Legend, Apex | Players from major international leagues and tournaments like the World Cup |
| Basketball | Starter, Booster, Reserve, Premier, Epic, Legend, Apex | Chase Cards include top players like Stephen Curry and Victor Wembanyama |
| Baseball | Starter, Booster, Reserve, Premier, Epic, Legend, Apex | New Cubs drop, current players and vintage cards |
| Pokémon | Starter, Booster, Reserve, Premier, Epic, Legend, Apex | Pick up 1st edition cards, most popular category |
| One Piece | Starter, Booster, Reserve, Premier, Epic, Legend | Collect your favorite categories |
| Football | Starter, Booster, Reserve, Premier, Epic, Legend, Apex, Mythos | Current NFL players and past legends |
Trove markets itself as a premium trading card site, so you’re not going to find incredibly valuable cards here for like $1. Instead, I had the opportunity to buy and sell graded, authentic collectibles. Every card that I bought I could either hold digitally and start trading straight away, or have it shipped to my house.
Buying and selling trading cards at Trove
Trove is one of the only sites that gives all users a forever buyback. What does that even mean? Well, after purchasing a trade card, Trove will buy it back at fair market value for about five minutes. For the next 24 hours after this, Trove will buy it back at 90% fair market value.
And after that, Trove will buy it back at 80% market value. Obviously I would assume that if you’ve just bought the card you’d want to keep it, but Trove makes sure you’re never tied to that. It’s quite unique of Trove to allow buybacks for cash. In my Box Madness review for example, I found that mystery boxes could be sold back, but only for site credit.
All physical cards are stored in a climate controlled vault (fancy!) where they’re waiting to be shipped out to you. If you’d prefer the physical card, like me, then you’ll need to wait 10-14 days for it to arrive. But from the moment that you purchase the card though, it’s yours.
Choose from six different trading card categories
At Trove there are key categories that the trading cards fall under, let’s take a look at some examples from each one. Each category has seven sub-categories to choose from:
- Starter: $25
- Booster: $50
- Reserve: $100
- Premier: $250
- Epic: $500
- Legend: $1,000
- Apex: $2,500
The majority of the trading card categories follow this, although there are a couple of differences for the One Piece category.
Soccer
When you purchase a Starter, Reserve or Epic card pack for example, you have the chance to pull ‘Chase Cards’. These are highly sought after and rare cards that are worth far more than you’ve paid for the pack. Some examples from the Booster pack include:
- #15 Cole Palmer ($787.50)
- Lamine Yamal ($781)
- #HG9 Geovany Quenda ($769)
The value is each trading card is worked out using real-time market data. This comes from both CardLadder and verified sales. The important thing is that the value of the cards is determined by what they’re actually selling for, not some arbitrary price.
Basketball
Even with the Starter packs, you could still potentially rip some high value cards. Of course, the Chase Cards are always going to be rare. I’m definitely not suggesting you’re going to find one in every pack. But it’s fun to see what you could potentially find. In the Starter pack the Chase Cards include:
- #258 Anthony Edwards ($400)
- #136 Victor Wembanyama ($400)
- #23 LeBron James ($394)
- #142 Kobe Bryant ($391.78)
- #39 Michael Jordon
All of the card values are as they were when I was looking through the site. As I mentioned earlier though, the value will update in real time.
Baseball
On top of the normal seven different baseball packs available, Trove has just launched a brand new drop. This is great news for any Cubs fans, with Starter, Reserve, Premier and Legend packs available. Just for fun, let’s see what you could get in a Legend pack:
- #ACPC Pete Crow-Armstrong ($6,334)
- #RAPC Pete Crow-Armstrong ($4,848)
- #FASI Shota Imanaga ($2,847)
- #36 Greg Maddux ($2,049)
Football
Probably some of the most popular cards to trade are American Football. From current NFL seasons to legends of the past, there are a huge range of cards to find at Trove. There is even an extra category called Mythos that is $5,000. A few top cards to look out for are:
- #K2 Patrick Mahomes II
- #10 Josh Allen
- #21 Caleb Williams
- #MA2 Tom Brady
Pokémon
The Apex trading card pack is the creme de la creme of Pokémon trading cards. These packs could contain incredibly high value cards worth up to $63,000. The top card to find would be the rare and mint condition 1st edition #4 Charizard-Holo card from 1999. Another cool Chase Card I found in the Apex pack was the #H29 Umbereon-Holo from the 2003 Pokémon Aquapolis.
One Piece
One Pieces trading card packs come in slightly different versions compared to the others. There are six packs in total:
- Starter: $30
- Booster: $50
- Reserve: $100
- Premier: $250
- Epic: $500
- Legend: $1,000
One Piece trading cards were first released in celebration of the hit anime and manga series. The Legend pack could include cards for popular characters such as Monkey D. Luffy and Gol D. Roger.
How to purchase trading cards at Trove
Once you’ve decided which card packs you’d like to pick up, you’ve got a few options to purchase them. All digital cards will be released to you instantly, but physical ones can take up to two weeks to ship. The process for purchasing the trading cards is similar to my Hypedrop review. Simply select the pack you’d like, then choose your payment option.
The quickest options are to use either Google Pay or Apple Pay (depending on your device). Just keep in mind there if you choose Apple Pay there is a 4.8% fee for processing your transaction. This is what Trove is charged by Apple, which is why it only applies to this payment option.
Or you can select ‘Other Payment Options’ and use either your Visa or Mastercard. E-wallets like PayPal aren’t accepted for purchases, but you can use them for withdrawing funds, i.e. after selling a trading card back to Trove.
Have fun picking up Trove card packs
Overall I found the experience of exploring the different card packs at Trove to be simple. There was no unnecessary clutter on the screen, and all of the categories were easy to find. You can choose your desired category from the horizontal menu, or open up the collapsible menu instead.
Each category is super well organized, with the available packs clearly laid out. Underneath I found the possible Chase Cards available in each category. This was a great way for me to see what the high value cards were that I could potentially pick up.
Grab trading card packs in the app
Another great feature of Trove is that they’ve launched a downloadable app. There is good news and bad news with this app. The good news is that it’s available to download from the Apple app store, the bad news is that it’s not in the Google Play store. So, Android users will need to opt for the mobile site instead.
I will say that they work similarly, so you’re not really missing out on too much here. Click on the three lines in the top right hand corner to choose your trading card pack category. Scroll down the page to find out about the latest drops and rare cards you could collect.
No welcome offer at Trove
Trove is specifically designed for collecting trading cards, so there are no welcome bonuses like you might find or mystery box sites like my review of Cravin. But that doesn’t mean that there is no value to be found. It’s possible to pick up Chase Cards which have more value that the price of the trading card packs.
But of course, these cards are rare for a reason and there are no Trove promo codes that you can use to unlock special cards.
Contact Trove using email
The easiest way to get in touch with someone at Trove if you have a problem is using email. There’s no live chat like in my Boxed.gg review, so you’ll need to wait for a member of the customer service team to get back to you. In the meantime though, there’s also a list of FAQs. These contain answers to commonly asked questions like:
- What is Trove?
- Where are my cards stored?
- How are my cards valued?
- Are the cards authentic?
- What are the fees?

Conclusion – Find rare trading cards with Trove
If you’ve been looking for a legit and authentic platform for trading cards, then Trove is one to check out. There were no red flags at all on the site, all of its processes were completely transparent. This is always a breath of fresh air, and adds to the legitimacy. Trove is up front with how it authenticates its cards, and you always have the option to sell them back if you choose to.
There are no welcome offers or anything, but to be fair it’s not that kind of platform. Trade baseball, basketball, football, soccer, One Piece and Pokémon cards. You could even unlock Chase Cards which are rare and high value. Sign up links can be found in the banners around this page.
