West Virginia is one of those states where people used to have access to different sweepstakes casinos. While you can still access some of them, House Bill 161 changed the legal landscape.
Currently, you can still access some of the best sweepstakes casinos in West Virginia, but the situation could change soon. That’s one of the big reasons why some operators have already left the state and do not accept users from it.
Until the complete sweepstakes casino ban becomes a reality, however, you can still come across sites that operate here. That’s why we want to share a few keywords about them and address some of the most popular options.

Are Sweepstakes Casinos Legal in West Virginia?
Those of you who want to discover the best WV sweepstakes casinos should know that these sites are currently in a somewhat gray area. House Bill 161, which prohibits sweepstakes casinos and legalizes their real counterparts, was introduced, but it has not come into effect this year. We expect this to happen at some point in the future.
Due to the pressure from the state’s Attorney General and HB 161, many operators have either blocked players from West Virginia or disabled the cash-out features. After it became clear where things were going, big sweepstakes casino operators decided to leave the state.
As of now, most big names do not accept players from West Virginia. Whether this will change is still uncertain, so we will have to wait and see.
Is it Safe to Play at Online Sweepstakes Casino Sites in West Virginia?
Yes, every West Virginia sweepstakes casino that we recommend is totally safe to enjoy.
You can also confirm your own safe sweepstakes platforms by checking to see that a chosen platform is reputable, trustworthy, and legitimate.
Online sweepstakes casinos really drive home the safety by not letting you gamble for real money.
You’ll play with virtual currency that has no monetary value. So, it’s all about playing free casino games for fun.
How do you play sweepstakes in West Virginia? It’s all about the Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins.
Gold Coins (GC)
These are the main coins you use to play your favorite casino games. They’re not worth anything, so you can play anything from slots to blackjack, or roulette and baccarat, without any risk.
You can get Gold Coins from welcome bonuses, regular promotions, winning while playing games, or by purchasing more. Just remember, there is always a way to get more GC for free.
Sweeps Coins (SC)
Sweeps Coins are your ticket to real prizes. SC is used to play casino games – exactly like GC – but SC is also used to enter sweepstakes and have a shot at real money prizes. SC is also redeemable for rewards.
You can get SC through promotions, free drops from daily tasks, through social media giveaways, by purchasing coins within the store, or by betting SC coins and winning more.

There are plenty of promotional offers, including generous Daily Missions, at this sweepstakes casino in West Virginia.
Besides starting with over 100,000 GC, once you claim the first Daily Mission, the casino boasts tons of purchase bonuses to increase your SC and GC.
Crown Coins Casino also offers exclusive slots that you can’t play elsewhere.
Not a bad addition to a collection of over 400 titles. However, I’d only play here if I’m looking for interesting slots, since the casino doesn’t have any table or live games.
