Minecraft trading cards give both fans and collectors a chance to collect their favorite characters, tools, mobs, and items while reliving their favorite moments from the game. Whether you want a complete set or individual cards, there’s always something available.
You can also rip these card packs in many ways, from live rips to trading card breaks and box rips. In this guide, we’ll explore the most popular Minecraft trading card releases, what they contain, how they work, and steps to start ripping cards. As a bonus, we’ll cover how to determine the trading cards that are worth ripping.
Minecraft trading cards are collectibles centered around the Minecraft universe. These cards come in different formats, with some focusing on mobs and characters, while others feature locations, items, biomes, and other things that relate to Minecraft. Like other cards, you can collect them individually, trade with other collectors, or join trading card box rips.
In our opinion, collecting Minecraft trading cards is a great option if you are a fan of the universe and want to build a collection around the game.
Many companies produce Minecraft Dungeons trading cards. While Panini cards are by far the most popular, Just Toys International released a collection in 2015. Let’s explore each one below.
As mentioned, Panini dominates the Minecraft trading card scene with various collections featuring characters and artwork from the game. You’ll find different products including multipacks, individual booster packs, starter products, and albums.
No Minecraft checklist covers every release, so we recommend checking the set name, card number, manufacturer, and release to determine which collection it belongs to. A collection can feature cards that cover various aspects of the Minecraft universe, including gameplay and crafting, tools and weapons, armor and resources, villages and other structures, and more.
We like the variety, considering it gives you the flexibility to decide what you want to feature in your collection. For instance, while we might like to focus on specific tools and weapons, you may want to gather every card. The following are the cards Panini has released so far.
| Series name | Number of cards | Year of release |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft Adventure Trading Cards | 230 cards | 2020/2021 |
| Minecraft: Time to Mine | 207 cards | 2022 |
| Minecraft: Create, Explore, Survive | 250 cards | 2023/2024 |
| Minecraft: Biome Crafting – 15th Anniversary Edition | 221 cards | 2024/2025 |
| Minecraft: Challenges | 243 cards | 2025 |
If you prefer to add older Minecraft trading cards to your collection, then this is a good choice. Just Toys International is one of the earlier releases developed in 2015. Instead of regular trading cards, they were released as a 24-card collection of collectible stickers.
Cards are centered around Minecraft characters such as Iron Golem, Alex, Steve, Chicken, and Enderman. The collection also included foil cards, which featured a shiny finish that made them unique from the standard versions. We suggest aiming for this if you want to create an older collection that is more unique than others’.
A Minecraft card rip is similar to My Little Pony card rips since both involve opening sealed trading cards to see what you get. The only difference is that you are opening sealed trading cards themed around Minecraft instead of My Little Pony.
What makes the process exciting is that you don’t know which cards you’ll receive when you open a product. For many collectors, the reveal adds to the experience.
Still, there are many ways to rip open a Minecraft trading card, including:
Here, a breaker or host rips it open in real time. Once the host reveals the card, it is displayed on the live stream and set aside for the buyer based on the agreement. While this form of card rip is less common, especially compared to modern trading cards, it still exists.
In Minecraft box rips, you buy a sealed box consisting of multiple packs. Box rips are also common in other collectible card themes, including SpongeBob card rips, where opening multiple packs at once gives collectors more cards to choose from.
On the downside, you may get duplicate cards, which can slow the process down. Still, this is not a biggie since you can trade them with other collectors for cards you actually need.
In this case, a host purchases sealed products and sells them to various participants through different arrangements. Depending on the arrangement, each participant may receive cards centered around characters, categories, or tools.
Before joining, though, we suggest you understand the product being opened, the number of packs or boxes, and how cards will be shipped to your location.
Not all Minecraft cards have the same value. Several factors can influence overall value, some of which we’ve broken down below.
Considering these factors is a great strategy if you are looking for unique or valuable cards to add to your collection. These factors aren’t unique to Minecraft alone. You can also use the same factors to evaluate cards from other collections, whether you are looking to rip Pokémon cards online or those centered around other subjects.

Remember, starting a Minecraft card collection goes beyond buying the first sets you come across and storing them in your locker. Instead, you’ll first need to choose the Minecraft set that interests you and narrow your options by evaluating factors like condition, demand, and grading.
