Disney trading cards have come a long way in recent years. Collectors can now search for and trade anything from the sought-after Disney Lorcana cards to modern Topps chrome releases to vintage Mickey Mouse cards and more.
Collectors can also rip Disney cards online, instead of having to buy and open a pack alone either with a live host, in groups through live card breaks, or with a virtual opening in which the cards are electronic. Below, we’ll discuss where you can rip Disney cards, the difference between ripping and breaking, and how you can get started.
One of the earliest sets of Disney trading cards released was the 1935 Gum Inc. Mickey Mouse set (now extremely valuable), though nowadays you’ll find much more variety, such as the multitude of Topps’ Disney releases and Ravensburger’s Disney Lorcana.
Modern releases such as the 2026 Topps Chrome Disney collection contain 200 cards in their base sets, while individual packages contain four to seven cards depending on the pack. Lorcana booster packs contain 12 cards, and each box has 24 individual packs of these.
If you’re a collector yourself, you may well know the thrill of adding a new card to your collection, chasing a particular character, an autograph, an anniversary insert, or even a one-of-one card. This is precisely what makes trading card rips and breaks so exciting. For many, the anticipation element of discovering what’s inside each pack is one of the best parts of the whole experience.
Many collectors are on the hunt for Disney’s most valuable trading cards, and you can consider it life-changing if any of the below end up in your hands.
The terms card rips and card breaks are sometimes used interchangeable, but they have a few differences you need to know first before you buy your first Disney card or pack:
When you rip cards online, you are essentially individually purchasing a pack and having it opened for you live on camera during a stream. Your cards are then packaged and shipped to you afterwards, if you’re happy with them and would like to keep them.
Another option for collectors is to explore box rips, which is where an entire sealed box is opened rather than just a single booster pack. You may want to try out a box rip if you think you’d enjoy seeing multiple packs opened in one sitting.
Disney trading card breaks are when a group participates in the opening of a sealed trading card pack. Rather than one collector buying an entire box or case, a breaker purchases the sealed product and sells spots to multiple collectors. The product is then opened live, usually on a streaming platform or dedicated breaking website, and then the cards are allocated according to the rules of the particular break. You can either trade the card you receive or have it shipped to your home address.
If you already rip sports cards online, then you may know that the main reason that people are beginning to get into online Disney card ripping and breaking is the entertainment element. After all, watching a sealed pack being opened live is a very different experience from ordering a box and opening it at home on your own.
The community aspect of online ripping is also extremely appealing. Chatting during streams and sharing in the excitement can be as enjoyable as the cards themselves.
Disney trading cards aren’t at all new, but combine them with online ripping and it’s a whole new ballgame. There aren’t that many platforms that you can currently rip or break Disney cards online, but if you check out any of the banners on this page you’ll be able to find out more information and where you can head to get started.
The value of a Disney trading card is determined by several factors, listed below.
| Factor | What it means |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Short-print cards/one-of-one cards are naturally much harder to come across. |
| Character | You’ll find that characters such as Elsa, Stitch, and Mickey Mouse tend to attract strong collector interest. |
| Autographs | A (genuine) autographed card can increase the value of any standard base card tenfold. |
| Condition | A card in mint condition is much more desirable than one with damaged corners or surface quality. |
| Age | Some releases are more desirable because of their historical significance and limited availability. |
| Authenticity | Cards checked and graded by the likes of the PSA or BGS are worth much more than ungraded alternatives. |
Disney fans have yet another way to enjoy the magic by taking part in collecting and trading cards. Online ripping and breaking adds an element of excitement to the mix by allowing collectors to watch packs be opened live on stream and creating an opportunity to mix with other fans and enthusiasts.
There may not be many online Disney rips just yet, but we expect that to change as popularity grows. If you’d like to get started now, however, then check out any of the banners on this page to find out which platforms you can begin exploring.
The most popular cards that people rip/trade are those from the Disney Lorcana range, though you’ll likely also come across Topps Disney cards and older, vintage releases too.
Check out the banners on this page to find out where you can rip Disney cards online. You may also find online rips streamed live on social media platforms like TikTok.
Any cards that you choose to keep rather than trade or sell back can be shipped safely to your home address, unless you’ve chosen digital cards, in which case these will be stored in a secure online “vault.”
